This last weekend, as we flipped through the Sunday paper with coffee in hand and zero expectations, we stumbled upon a story that stopped us in our tracks.
There he was, Bruce Springsteen, on the cover of XL Semanal, under the headline:
“Bruce Springsteen y su yo oculto” (Bruce Springsteen and his hidden self).
Inside the interview, Bruce opens up about something raw and beautiful:
He recently unearthed seven unreleased albums. Forgotten recordings. Music made in moments of darkness. Albums that helped him cope with depression. Pieces of himself… hidden in a drawer.
He says:
“The good thing about records is that they are what they say they are:
a record of who You were and where You were at a given time.
Others might have kids or a job to mark their path…
I have albums.”
And reading that, something clicked.
Maybe that’s what Collecting ArT Toys is about for many of us, too.
Not trophies. Not hype. Not about status or decoration…
But about keeping a record of who we were, at different moments in time. What moved us, what we refused to forget. Artifacts of the self or wall we weren’t ready to let go of just yet.
We’re not saying that’s the meaning.
But perhaps it’s a meaning.
