What can an old television service teach you

about staying connected to the ArT Toy Movement?

Remember teletext?

That strange little world of coloured letters, numbered pages, and information that appeared on your television screen.

In 2026, it sounds almost prehistoric.

And yet, some people still use it.

Which makes you wonder.

Maybe the interesting question isn't why teletext survived.

Maybe it's why you keep returning to certain things,

even when the world has moved on to something newer.

1. The Screen Was Small. The Habit Was Big.

Long before the internet became part of everyday life,

teletext was already bringing information into people's homes.

News. Weather. Football scores. Lottery results. TV listings.

You pressed a few buttons, waited for the page, and found what you needed.

No endless scrolling.

No algorithm trying to guess what might keep you watching for another twenty minutes.

Just information.

It wasn't particularly glamorous.

But it worked.

And sometimes being useful matters more than being new.

Think about how you follow the ArT Toy Movement.

You probably return to certain artists, brands, galleries, shops, or ToyCon accounts.

Not because their websites are revolutionary.

But because you know you'll find something worth your attention.

A familiar place can still lead you somewhere unexpected.

2. Where Do You Go When You're Curious?

Think about your own collecting habits.

When you want to know what an artist is working on, where do you look?

Where do you discover a new release, a custom, an exhibition, or a collaboration?

Maybe you follow artists like Don Kaiju Toys, Mojo, or Ceppigatti.

Maybe you visit a brand's website, read a specialist Art Toy blog, or check a page dedicated to the scene.

Or perhaps a shop, gallery, curator, collector, or ToyCon introduces you to something you would never have found on your own.

Each gives you a different piece of the picture.

An artist lets you see an idea taking shape.

A brand connects design with production and release.

A specialist blog helps you understand the story around the work.

A gallery or shop gives you somewhere to encounter it.

And a collector might remember details that disappeared from the internet years ago.

What you collect depends partly on what you discover and on who helps you discover it.

That's worth remembering the next time you find yourself following a link into an artist's world you knew nothing about five minutes earlier.

3. More Messages Don't Always Mean More Connection.

Some people say daily emails are the best way to stay top of mind.

But you know what happens when every message says, “Look at this”?

Eventually, you stop looking.

Artists, brands, shops, galleries, and publishers all compete for attention. That doesn’t mean they need to become louder. It means every message should offer a reason to be opened.

A release can matter because of its design, its process, its collaborators, or the idea behind it. A painting or original print can reveal another side of an artist’s visual world. A short note can give you context that a product image cannot.

Frequency can put your name in front of someone. Relevance gives them a reason to stay.

4. The Signal Is Bigger Than the Sale.

Imagine discovering an ArT Toy in a shop.

You like the character.

Then you read an interview with the artist.

You learn how the idea began.

Later, you see the work in a gallery, meet another collector at a ToyCon, or come across a story that changes how you understand it.

Suddenly, the figure on your shelf has a little more history behind it.

That's when communication becomes something more interesting than another announcement.

It helps you connect the people, places, and decisions behind the object.

And those connections matter.

Artists and brands develop ideas. Producers help turn them into physical works. Curators, galleries, shops, and ToyCons bring those works into contact with people.

Collectors give them homes and sometimes preserve stories that might otherwise disappear.

Not every post, email, or conversation needs to lead to a purchase.

Sometimes its value is simply helping you understand something you already own.

A good signal doesn't just tell you what to buy. It gives you another reason to look.

5. Keep the Channels That Help You Remember.

Teletext is a funny reminder of something we've almost forgotten.

A channel doesn't need to be fashionable to be useful.

It doesn't even need to be particularly beautiful.

It just needs to give you a reason to return.

That's what we'd like this newsletter to be for you.

Not another voice shouting for attention.

A familiar place where you can spend a few minutes discovering an artist, questioning an idea, or finding an unexpected connection within the ArT Toy Movement.

Sometimes we'll talk about collecting.

Sometimes about paintings, fine art prints, galleries, or the people working behind the scenes.

And sometimes we'll find ourselves discussing a television service that looks like it escaped from 1987.

Because the connections between Identity, Memory, Legacy, and Rebellion don't always appear where you expect them.

And collecting isn't only about what you bring home.

It's also about what you choose to keep noticing.

Explore our SHOP to discover Art Toys, Paintings, and Original Prints from artists and brands whose work we believe in.

And visit our BLOG for more stories about the people, ideas, and unexpected connections shaping the Movement.

The screens will keep changing.

The platforms probably will too.

But when something genuinely matters to you, you'll find your way back to it.
