Subject: What Coldplayās Kiss Cam taught us about obsession and ArT Toys
Title: A Viral Kiss, a Collectorās Thrill, and the Toys That Defy Norms
Subtitle: (Let betrayal, music, and unexpected sightings feed Your creative soul)
This past week, the internet did what it does best:
it took a blink-of-an-eye moment and turned it into a global drama.
It happened during a Coldplay concert.
The Kiss Cam roamed the crowd, as usual,
until it landed on two people who should not have been kissing.
#####
Letās just say it involved executives, a company no one will name out loud, and consequences that spiraled from resignations to memes to PR stunts featuring the ex of a certain iconic frontman.
Chris Martin, ever the showman, even made a joke on stage, something about an affair⦠or just extreme shyness.
In the aftermath? Coldplayās streams reportedly jumped 25%, and the video ricocheted through millions of screens. Some were already calling it Coldplaygate.
#####
Meanwhile, in our Studio-Gallery in Bilbao, we were watching it all unfold, surrounded by music.
Cristina had her epic soundtracks on loop (Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Thai; she lives for them).
And me? I listen to everything. But Coldplay? Coldplay is a weakness.
I donāt just collect ArT Toys, prints, and paintings.
I collect Coldplay magazine and newspaper covers...from all over the world.
Iāve gathered close to 400 of them, spanning from the year 2000 to now.
Right now Iām cataloguing and photographing them one by one.
Yes, itās obsessive. But thatās the point.
So when the Kiss Cam saga erupted, it hit close to home.
#####
Because it reminded us of something we feel every day in this Studio:
how a single, public, imperfect moment can shift a Story,
alter reputations, and define what sticks in Memory.
And thatās not unlike what we do here.
We try to gravitate toward what doesnāt fit.
Toward the awkward, the uncomfortable, the misunderstood.
The ArT Toys, paintings and fine Art prints we love most,
the ones on our shelves and walls, donāt try to be agreeable.
Theyāre not neutral. They donāt aim to please.
They provoke.
They confuse.
They interrupt.
And maybe thatās what makes them unforgettable.
And we know that other spaces and brands think the same and work in a similar way.
And that's something we love.
#####
Thereās a thrill in collecting the thing everyone else calls āwrong.ā
The sculpture or painting that nobody wanted.
The ArT Toy edition too weird to mass-produce.
The vinyl that made no sense, until it did.
There are many who think, and we do too, that If Your shelf, or Your wall,
doesnāt make people pause, either out of confusion or curiosity,
then maybe You are not "exactly" doing what one would call Collecting
Maybe Youāre Settling.
And we donāt do settling.
Because, and itĀ“s only our opinion, of course, real ArT Toy collectors arenāt chasing approval.
Theyāre chasing Meaning.
In the madnessā¦

P.S. Weāre still riding the high of Moi Martosās visit.
His work lives on our walls, but it was the first time weād ever met in person.
Years of collaboration, and finally: shared space, shared stories, shared playlists.
Cristina with her epic eastern anthems.
Moi with his pop culture assassinations on canvas.
And me, lost in Coldplay vinyls from countries I canāt pronounce.
A bit of chaos, a bit of harmony,
and somehow, exactly right...
